As part of their busy international schedule, the Wihan Quartet will give a series of concerts around the UK next month.
The Wihan Quartet, described by International Record Review as “one of the best quartets in the world today”, will perform three concerts in the UK in March, affording listeners an opportunity to hear some of the world’s foremost interpreters of the Czech quartet repertoire. Following their appearance in Northumberland at the Alnwick Music Club, the quartet will be presented by the Oxford Chamber Music Society at the Holywell Music Room and by Hertfordshire’s Radlett Music Club.
Represented by Tashmina Artists since October 2023, the Wihan Quartet is one of the leading string quartets to emerge from the great Czech school of performance in recent years, with an extraordinary reputation for its interpretation of both the Czech domestic repertoire and many of the foremost works of the quartet repertoire of the Classical and Romantic periods, as well as modern works.
In their UK performances this spring, the Wihan Quartet will perform three celebrated quartets by Czech composers: Leos Janáček’s String Quartet no. 1, Kreutzer, Antonin Dvořák’s Quartet no. 10 in E flat major, op. 51, Slavonic, and Bedřich Smetana’s Quartet no. 1 in E minor, From My Life. The Wihan Quartet will return to the UK in June for their engagement at Wigmore Hall.
